It's blustery out there! Not terrible, but snowy! That means I'm one of the only people at work.

You are such a tiny little sushi shop (yes you are), that I often feel amusedly paternalistic about you, assuming people must pass you by without seeing you all the time. Then standing at Penn station on Friday, watching the commuters shrug out of their suit jackets on their way home for the weekend. I get what is probably a superior little smile and think, "you guys are just visiting, but I live here!"

It's not that I actually feel superior, but I do love feeling that New York is home rather than a destination.

It's a super short day for me at work today! First, I got in late - about 9:15 - because of physical therapy. Then I have a dentist appointment at 11, so I gotta leave at 10:45 for that, and probably won't be back until 11:40. I know repairs are easier and more likely to last when done in good weather than bad. And I really have no idea what's up with the city budget. But can you think of a reason to put a "raise plow" sign up in the middle of an intersection on the 18th of June? It's not even a permanent one - at least that would be signage repair. Even though I come from Ohio, I don't spend a huge amount of my life striking up conversations with strangers, because that usually doesn't end well for me, especially in NYC. I slept in a bit this morning - although I'm newly busy with the new responsibilities, things still seem really. . . I dunno, easy! - at work, and so I've been showing up more like 9 than 8/8:30.
